Steel gates, burglar bars and balustrades in KwaDukuza.

Gates, burglar bars, steel frames and balustrades, measured on site, made to your dimensions and finished to stand up to the humid, salty air of KwaDukuza and the North Coast.

What we make

Made to measure for your opening.

01

Gates

Driveway and pedestrian gates, swing or sliding, plus security gates for doors. Built to fit the opening and the posts or walls they hang on.

02

Burglar bars

Bars for windows and doors, designed around how the window opens and with fire escape needs in mind.

03

Steel frames

Frames for glazing, carports, pergolas and other structures, fabricated to measured dimensions.

04

Balustrades and handrails

Balcony, staircase and stoep balustrades and handrails, replacing corroded or loose sections or new installations.

Corrosion

Steel near the sea needs more than a coat of paint.

Even a few kilometres inland, KwaDukuza gets the humid, salt-laden air that blows off the Indian Ocean, and in Ballito, Salt Rock and Zimbali steel is closer still to the spray. Rust usually starts in the same places: welds, cut ends, the bottom rails of gates where water sits, and the hollow insides of tubing. Once it starts under the paint, it spreads sideways and lifts the coating.

That is why the finish is discussed as part of the design, not as an afterthought. Depending on the item and the budget, options include hot-dip galvanising, a zinc-rich primer with a protective topcoat, or powder coating. Good detailing helps too: sealing hollow sections or allowing them to drain, avoiding ledges that hold water, and using fixings that won't rust and stain the surrounding wall.

Repair or replace

Not every rusty gate needs replacing.

Surface rust on a sound gate can often be cut back, repaired and refinished. Where the bottom rail or posts have rusted through, it can be cheaper to replace those sections than the whole gate. Balustrades are different: if fixings or posts are corroded, the balustrade may no longer be safe to lean on, and it should be checked soon. Balustrades also need to meet the building regulations on height and gap sizes, so we measure on site before fabricating.

Because we also do exterior painting and building work, the walls, piers and paint around a new gate or balustrade can be sorted out by the same team. Asking for a quote is free, and you'll have your quote in under two days.

FAQ

Steel gates & fabrication: common questions.

Do you make gates and burglar bars in KwaDukuza (Stanger)?

Yes. We fabricate gates, burglar bars, steel frames and balustrades for homes, complexes and businesses in KwaDukuza (Stanger), Ballito and across the KZN North Coast.

Can you repair a rusted gate instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the frame is still sound, rusted sections can be cut out and replaced and the gate refinished. We'll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What finish lasts best on the coast?

It depends on the item and how exposed it is. Hot-dip galvanising, zinc-rich primers with a topcoat, and powder coating are all options. We explain the trade-offs when we quote.
